Preparedness disclaimer

Read this once. It sets the boundary around everything else on the site.

This is not medical advice

OutpostCore covers supplies, documentation and where to get trained. It does not give medication dosing, diagnosis or treatment instructions, and it never will. Nothing here replaces a clinician, and nothing here should delay you calling emergency services.

This is not legal advice

Radio licensing, generator installation, water rights, burn restrictions and food sales are all regulated, and the rules differ by state and by county. We cite the federal source where one exists and point you at your own state agency for the rest. Confirm before you act.

This is not engineering advice

Electrical work, gas appliances, structural bracing and generator interlocks can kill people when done wrong. Where a job needs a licensed electrician or plumber, we say so, and that is not us being cautious for legal reasons. Carbon monoxide from a badly placed generator is one of the most common causes of death after a storm.

Official warnings win

If your local emergency management agency, the National Weather Service or a police officer at your door tells you to do something that contradicts anything on this site, do what they say. They have information about your specific situation that a website cannot have.

We can be wrong

Sources get revised, links die, and we make mistakes. Every article shows when a human last checked it, and corrections are appended with a date rather than made quietly. If you find an error, tell us and we will fix it and say that we did.
